While reducing costs in Medicare TKAs may be challenging, efforts to temper cost expansion are essential, particularly among high-cost patients. Strategies like preoperative risk stratification, appropriate monitoring, and proper discharge placement will assist mitigating Medicare’s cost burden by lowering rates of complications and readmissions. Proper application of innovative technologies may help minimize delays in care and optimize costs.
