About Canary Medical
Millions of people around the world rely on medical implants but once the last suture is closed, these devices are instantly silenced.
Canary creates a voice for medical implants by allowing them to generate and share data.
With our CANARY Canturio® products, Canary opens the door to entirely new opportunities to improve patient outcomes and lower the cost of care by enabling devices to automatically transmit data on patients’ conditions, and in addition, manage, analyze, and access the data in a manner that supports the reimbursement requirements for Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM).
Smart, talking medical implants, and the data services required to use the insights they generate, provide clinicians with entirely new sources of relevant, accurate and timely information that offer greater visibility and connectivity to patient health.
Our Platform
To give medical implants a voice, and to let the medical data they gather be heard, Canary has developed a novel and unparalleled platform to achieve greater visibility and connectivity to patient health. Canary technologies are covered by over 80 granted and pending patents. To learn more about our solution hover over the elements below:
Canturio® is a SMART medical device that integrates with other standard medical devices to collect data on the patient’s mobility.
Canturio first implementation
Canturio is Latin for “chirping”, or “singing continuously.” CANARY canturio products give medical devices the voice to communicate objective data that can remotely inform on a patient’s physiological condition supporting a wide range of therapeutic applications.
Canary’s first product, the canturio®te, is a modified tibial extension for use with Zimmer Biomet’s Persona® prosthetic knee joint, the first orthopedic prosthetic joint implant designated a Breakthrough Device by FDA and submitted for regulatory review for market clearance with FDA Breakthrough Status.
Canturio te is a breakthrough with its sophisticated collection of technology: an IMU sensor with a 3D-accelerometer, 3D-gyroscope and pedometer; a memory board; a communications array; and a battery with 20 years of capacity. The canturio te measures and records joint range of motion and patient activity with unrivaled accuracy and reliability, providing an entirely new tool to help manage prosthetic knee post-surgical recovery.
Developing the canturio te demonstrated what components Canturio products need to give medical devices a voice across other therapeutic areas: sensors, communications, power. A voice is not enough, however, the data has to be heard. This is where Canary’s platform solution comes in.
